Sheep are cool

Hi everyone--I know I've not been the best blogger this month.  I'm tired most days and honestly just haven't had the energy to sit at the computer in the evenings for long after sitting at one all day at work.  But I do want to share a few things that I've made and what's been going on lately.  So without further delay, I'm going to start with an embroidery I did as part of a tea towel tour swap with some of my awesome stitchy friends. The first person I had to stitch for was Jo--who lives all the way over in New Zealand (jealous!).  I knew right away that I wanted to do something Dr. Who themed for her--she's a fan and I'm a fan.  While discussing the swap there were many sheep jokes going around being that she lives in new Zealand so DING, I knew right away what I wanted to make for her.  I present to you Dr. Ewe--with a bow tie and Fez--because bow ties and Fez's are cool.  

 I just adore it. 

  

 I just added the bow tie and Fez and some little stars and a moon.  

  

 I'm so pleased with how this turned out and luckily Jo liked it as well!  This swap is with 11 folks so eventually I'll have stitched up 10 other things.  I'm so excited about the swap, especially with such awesome people---not to mention that I'll have 11 awesome stitchings from them!   So, this is a good start.  I still haven't even started the May Dessert of the Month cross stitch.  This month is a super cute flan and I can't wait to start it.  Maybe I can get that going this weekend.  I hope you all are having a wonderful spring so far!

Another sweet treat

I have finished up another of the dessert series for my kitchen. I'm up to four now and will probably take a break from stitching them and get the ones I've completed framed up for display.  This time around it's chocolate pudding...mmmm.

Again, the patterns are from the Death By Chocolate set from Aunt Martha's. You can buy them here. I will hopefully get around to stitching up all of them some day.  

I've got a busy weekend coming up so I'm going to keep it brief.  I'm so tired.

April: Dessert of the Month

It's that time again----time for the dessert of the month.  This time it's an adorable little carrot cake!  I really love the colors in this one.

Rocket ships and monkey butt

Wow friends--April is tick tocking away!  I have been busy though!  So let's catch up.  Here's a few embroideries I've stitched onto some clothes for the baby!

 Rocket ship pattern from here. I love the bright red on these blue stripes!

 Another blue striped onesie--this time with a little monster?  Critter?   Pattern from here. I used another one of the Michael Sieben patterns that I love so much.

 I used a variegated thread for the little monster--just a subtle color change but fun.  I'm now thinking I should have stitched 'radical' in a darker color--seems a bit hard to read. 

 A little octopus on this bright yellow shirt I found at the thrift using a pattern from this set.  I'm loving this one!

 This onesie already had a super cute monkey on the front...

 So I put one on the back!  Monkey Butt!

I can't wait for him to wear these! I'm under the three month mark now, so not long to go.  I'm so excited.  My to-do list seems to keep getting longer and longer though.  Hopefully I'll find the time to get it all done!

Spring is for cookies

Happy April! Spring has definitely sprung here in NC.  Trees and flowers are blooming and hubby is sneezing up a storm (poor thing).  I'm not complaining that's for sure--I'm loving this weather and it's got me thinking about my little porch garden.  I'm really not sure if I'm going to try vegetables again this year though. I may just get some pretty flowers and maybe more herbs because it was nice having fresh herbs last year--yummy.  Speaking of yummy goodness, I finished up another of the sweet treats from this pattern set.

This design may be my favorite so far.  I love the little flowers.  It was fun to stitch. 

I played around with some variegated floss on the leaves.  I like the subtle color changes.  I think I've decided to display these on some small canvases with some fun, bright fabric behind it.  I'll have to experiment a little to see if it will work.  If you'd like a reminder of the other sweet treats I've done, check them out here and here.  I'm going to work on the chocolate pudding next.  Plus, I've got my April Dessert of the Month cross stitch to do!  I always look forward to those.

A little weenie dog

Man oh man what a week it's been.  I got hit the with norovirus and was out for several days.  No fun my friends. Needless to say I didn't much accomplished this week.  Yesterday was the first day I felt I was somewhat back to normal.  I wanted to stitch something but really didn't want to tackle that sampler I've been working on, but wanted to do something small that I could finish in a day.  I remembered a bib I got in a pile of stuff and it was the perfect thing to get me feeling better.  I decided to do the little weenie dog from February 2011 issue of CrossStitcher magazine.  I've been wanting to do one of these patterns forever and finally found the perfect thing to stitch one onto.

 

 I got slightly off-center because I didn't measure correctly so I just added the words 'WOOF' and another little flower.  It works. 

 Such a cute little thing for the baby.  It felt really great to be stitching again after my little hiatus.

In other news: Colby and I did go see "Jay and Silent Bob Get Old" in Durham which was full of awesome.  I haven't laughed like that in a long time---even my baby was twirling around in my belly!  

 Hopefully he won't remember all the things he heard that night though (wink).  You can listen to the podcast that was recorded that night here if you'd like to hear the shenanigans that went on that night.  

Also a few weekends ago, we took a trip up to the Roanoke area as a last little trip before the baby gets here.  

We had a lovely time and took a drive up to the mountains and visited two farms that are in Colby's family.  While at the farm we happened upon a cow giving birth.  I must say, it was one of the most amazing things I've seen in a long while.  Talk about perfect timing.  The trip was peaceful and just what we needed.

I guess this was about 25 weeks.  I'm definitely bigger now and no hiding that bump!

March: Dessert of the Month

Hey folks!  I've been a little absent this past week, it's just been one of those weeks.  I did want to share the March Dessert of the Month cross stitch though--cuz it's super cute!
